Video by Portland musician Joshua Madore and show curator of There Is No Sin’s Troy Keiper. This was shot at the end of 2009. It was a solo performance at Geno’s Rock Club in Portland, Maine.

Joshua’s band will be performing at the Big Easy Mar 13 2010 @ 9:00PM.

Portland Maine Live with There Is No Sin

It was a rather intimate affair at Geno’s in Portland last week. Not much happened of note. Songs were distorted and the turntable was finger spun to 78.

It was fueled by Diet Coke, apparently.

It was the last of 2009’s music.

Say hello to Mairead O’Liathain’s fun new animated video for There Is No Sin’s song Alter! The video was actually created on an iPhone. It was a painstaking process apparently.

Head over to YouTube for the free music video and say hello to Roger, the dog. Roger is a cute dog, but his fate seems to be taking a turn for the worse.

Will Gattis at “Hell No On 1″

Portland has a few exceptional talents and Will Gattis is one of them. Most recently performing as the Gattis Band, his solo stop at yesterday’s Hell No On 1 Benefit Concert was just, plain crazy.

We’d love to see him put out a solo album featuring just him and his keyboard. Maybe record each track in single takes. Whatever it takes to let the honesty of his songwriting shine.

Will’s MySpace mentions Ben Folds as an influence and as much as the analogy may fit, it’d be an injustice to compare the two. Numerous plaintive singers play piano, but Will’s songwriting and creativity have a genuineness that others lack. Excepting maybe Bo Burnham.

Take a look. The movie is called “Makeup.” It stars Mairead O’Liathain and was filmed and edited by the legendary indie filmmaker Juan de Jalfrezi.
